We believe that when you buy a retrained racehorse, you help that horse, when you learn to retrain a racehorse, you help every one of your horses from here on in!
Who we are and what we do
Retraining Racehorses was started by professional rider, coach, bodyworker and trainer, Keira Byrnes.
Having retrained or helped retrain over 100 off the track Thoroughbreds, including the amazing Fox Hill who she produced to 5***** eventing and GP showjumping, you could say she loves the Thoroughbred!
Services We Offer
Online Training
Our intensive online course goes through all aspects of retraining an off the track Thoroughbred, from choosing a horse, to the letting down process, to retraining on the ground and under saddle.
A simple, holistic and pragmatic approach to training.
This course is also a pre-requisite of our in-person intensive!
In Person Intensive
Our in-person intensive not only dives deep into retraining your OTTB, it can also be the way you meet your new OTTB! Half of our intensives are for people who already have their OTTB, and the other half include pairing you with your new equine best friend.
The intensive is a two week SUPER deep dive! It will transform the relationship with your OTTB, not just now but into the future!

Horses For Sale
We occasionally have some OTTBs for sale either previously retrained, or ready to be part of the intensive programme.
We also offer a platform for others to list their OTTBs for sale or rehoming.
There are currently no horses for sale here, if you are looking to buy or sell an OTTB, please contact us.
We also offer full services from sourcing an OTTB direct from trainers, spelling, retraining and preparing you and your horse to start your journey together.
For trainers, we offer full retraining and rehoming programmes, along with cross training for horses still in racing.

Private Sessions - in person and remotely
Keira offers a holistic approach to horses.
